ok so you got out of the watchtower society after discerning it was false.

what is amazing is how many have turned their back on the king or was it they had no faith in the first place and the spiritual food they received did not help them stand upon a rock.

jesus the christ your saviour is a living breathing being with emotions.

When I was a kid I believed a lot of things that turned out not to be true. I couldn't 'turn my back' on those beliefs. They were simply wrong and I needed to grow a pair and admit it. I would be a fool to carry on believing them, and dishonest if I gave lip service to believing them.

Do you know what book I was reading when I finally realised that the Bible was only men's thoughts about God, not God's thoughts about man?? It was the Bible, not any other book written by some dissafected Christian, JW, athiest, whatever ....... just the Bible.

If you want to try and cherry pick some stuff you liked from your time in a high control cult, go ahead, but your past membership in one doesn't leave you with an enviable track record to use if you want to sell yourself as our spiritual advisor.

BTW, I was born in, never joined.

i am the husband of an ex-jw.

she left when she was 18, because she was dating a non-jw.

they got married, and he began openly cheating on her.

They need to know that good people find their behaviour offensive and unchristian, so you did a good job.

If you are telling them what is wrong with their church, they are trained to not listen, so don't waste your time trying.

If you want to get somewhere with them, you need them to think that you are a potential convert and get them wanting to save you. Make them want to answer your questions, questions that you chose because you already know that they don't have sensible answers.

Never answer their questions because they are just trying to change the subject. When they do answer you .... pause ..... ask yourself ..... "Did they really answer the question that I asked?" They seldom do. If they tried that trick, use questions to give them a guilt trip for trying to trick you.

Remember at all times, that they are taught that they are the only ones that have 'The Truth' that will save your arse from the wrath of their killer god and that if they don't do their god given mission of getting the Watchtower's message through to you, you will be killed in the near future.

Stay calm

Ask questions

Keep them honest

If you don't believe in God where do you get the strength to cope?

i know there are some here that are going through some tough times.

some of you do not believe in god.

some are not sure.. i was told recently by a friend to pray to god for help and he would comfort me.. my first impulse is to pray.

It is a lot easier to deal with the notion that there is no killer god spying on you and your church's designated 'sins' 24/7 from outer space than it is to deal with the notion that our parents have been scammed by Doomsday nutters and their delusions.

I always saw religion as a crutch, even as a teen. I never felt I needed that crutch. Realising that there was no god watching my waking moments was a weight lifted, not a burden.

Watchtower God was going to murder me bacause I hadn't joined his church. I needed strength to cope with that much more than I need strength to cope with the realisation that he was just the invention of some Yankee Doomsday nutter.

it was the national headquarters for the jehovah's witnesses for 30 years.. but the 7.5ha wattle downs property has now been sold to elim church and could soon house a new christian college.. jehovah's witness minister george gray says advances in technology mean the property is no longer needed for running the church's new zealand and south pacific activities which will now be administered from australia.. elim church bought the property for its growing south auckland congregation and volunteers helped transform the site in just a matter of days.. pastor boyd ratnaraja says the congregation moved in on a sunday straight after morning services at their much smaller weymouth rd premises.. "they have done a superb job of setting up," he says.. the church will hold services for its 450-strong congregation at its new home as well as running counselling sessions and operating an op shop and a weekly soup kitchen.. "we believe in reaching out to the community.

It's not the first church premises they've sold to Satan's organisations in New Zealand.

I wonder if they bothered to tell the Elims that they have been led astray by Satan and that Jehovah is going to annihilate them and their children if they don't quickly dump Satan's doctrines and accept directions from Jehovah's Australian headquarters, or if they hid that 'Light' inder a bushel?

I feel sorry for John and Lorraine and the many in their generation that invested so much in the church for so many decades. Lorraine recently lost her brother. Resurrection was only supposed to be a backup prize for the faithful that died before Armageddon. Now, it is all they have to hope for.

Reverse-Witnessing leaves me mentally and emotionally drained...

hi dear friends!.

i am doing some stealth reverse-witnessing, and i have succeeded in at least two people seeing ttatt, one being my friend and the other being my dad (although my dad has a longer route to take to exit the wts, and i have to slowly chip away at the illusion).... the illusion of jw's is very strong.

they give an illusion of being moral and decent people, and that may be true just because the majority of the people they attract are just being deceived, or i really like to believe that and hope for the best.. what i hate and leaves me emotionally drained are jw apologists.

what can help me not be so shaken by my reverse witnessing and JW apologetics?

Don't answer their questions.

They are the ones claiming to have all the answers, so require them to provide the proofs for their answers to your question.

Guilt is good. Make them feel guilty for not answering your question.

Never ask a question unless you know they don't have a sane answer for it.

Don't make statements unless you know that they know that your statement is backed up by literature that they profess to trust .... preferably literature that is available immediately, (on their own bookshelf is best).

Remember at all times that it is not you that requires an excuse to stop worshipping a god that is hiding in his privey, it is up to them to explain why they still carry on accepting instructions from a bunch of Brooklyn religious nutters when that god never told them anything miraculous that actually happened .... ever.

the wife and i found out today she is preggo!

we aren't going to share the blessed news with family until the end of the first trimester later this year...if we can hold out and keep it a secret until then.

but i don't know what to do with my jw fam.
